Moneylife Foundation’s 7th Anniversary was celebrated on 4 February 2017. For the first time, as part of the celebrations, we also organised a tour of the BSE for 241 MBA students and 10 faculty members from NL Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research.
It was an exhilarating experience for the students, who got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of being present inside the Rotunda (now renamed as International Convention Hall) of the BSE. This was the former trading ring of this Exchange.
After the tour, the students were taken through the history of the BSE through a film. The captivating presentation educated the audience about the heritage and journey of the BSE, right form its establishment in 1875, up to the renowned Exchange that it is today.
Further, Niranjan Demanna, head of the accelerator programme at Zone Startups India, gave a presentation on the BSE Incubator. Zone Startups India is a collaboration between BSE Institute, Ryerson University’s Digital Media Zone, Ryerson Futures Inc and Simon Fraser University from Canada. At present, it hosts over 60 start-ups. The presentation was followed by two entrepreneurs, Rahul and Hamzaa, sharing their experiences with the students, and encouraging them to establish start-ups of their own.
All in all, the day proved to be fruitful, memorable and informative for the young minds. The speeches by the entrepreneurs and special guests not only left them in awe but also instilled in them a new drive and zeal. Also, they got an opportunity to click photos with the world-famous BSE Bull!
