Veteran RTI Activist, Anand Bhandare has done incredible amount of work filing right to information (RTI) applications to gather information about municipal corporators across Mumbai. He and his team of volunteers, doing a detailed evaluation of each corporator on various parameters by seeking out information through RTIs.
In the past such information was published in a physical handbook, which collated detailed report cards on each municipal corporator in Mumbai. However, in the last two years, Anand Bhandare and his team have developed a smartphone app which displays all of their research and data easily on a mobile device.
Anil Galgali, who’s work is renowned for civic related issues and cases of corruption in civic bodies across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), was present at an event organised by Moneylife Foundation to launch a redesigned version of the ‘My Corporator’ or ‘माझा नगरसेवक’ app.
The event saw attendance of over 180 people across Zoom, Facebook and YouTube channels of Moneylife Foundation. Mr Bhandare took the time to explain all the features of the app, as well as explained how his team had gathered the data to present it as a report card of a particular corporator’s performance.
Mr Galgali and Mr Bhandare also answered questions from the participants and encouraged them to take the initiative by using the app to evaluate their ward’s corporators.
