Dear Moneylifers, | | |
Greetings! Let me begin by first thanking you all for your donations towards the victims of Kerala floods. Thanks to you, Moneylife Foundation has been instrumental in providing aid to people in Kerala. |
We have had a busy month collecting, organizing and planning the delivery of items that you had so graciously donated. Our challenge was to find an organization that is working on the ground in Kerala and will ensure that every last item donated goes to those who need it. We tied up with the Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, which was already working at Thrissur. |
I am glad to inform you that your donations have reached Thrissur, Kerala swiftly and safely and are being slowly dispersed throughout the relief camps. We thank Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and his office for the offer of free transport and smoothing various hurdles. We had never taken up a donation drive on a such a massive scale in the past. Your donations totaled to around 3000 kgs! It was a challenge for us all and my colleagues at Moneylife Foundation did an amazing job. In addition to the goods that we collected, we guided a few members to make sizable financial donations directly to Vivekananda Kendra. Some of you may have seen the photographs we have been posting of this entire process on our facebook page - Daily Clinics | |
| |
| |
| |
Other than being busy with donations for Kerala relief, we conducted several important seminars and had regularly our regular daily clinic sessions. |
Retirement Homes: There has been a lot of activity on our 2-year effort to study the issue of retirement homes and persuade the government to put in place regulations to make these safe havens for the increasing number of people who wish to give up the chore of running a home and opt to spend their retirement years with like-minded people, doing things they like. We received such unbelievable and unstinted help from various quarters in the past weeks and are feeling very optimistic about a positive outcome. I hope to share details in the next few months. |
